2024 Mustang Blue Ember

The pony car is launching with 11 standard paint colors, a special color for the Dark Horse model, and Grabber Blue is back!

Despite recent trends making it seem all the more unlikely, we've actually been blessed with another generation of the iconic Ford Mustang, returning again with its growling 5.0-liter V-8 and available manual transmission for a seventh generation. A large part of the Mustang's ongoing legacy is the continuous churn of new or reintroduced paint colors offered from model to model, year to year, mixing it up in interesting ways—and it's no different for the new car.

For the 2024 Ford Mustang, the automaker is offering 11 standard colors at launch, including two that are new to the coupe, as well a special job on the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse that has a neat effect. We had a chance to photograph scale models of the new muscle car dipped in its standard color choices, so here's what you can expect to find on a 2024 Mustang in the real world.

All-New Yellow Splash

The first of the two mentioned "new" colors on the 2024 Ford Mustang is "Yellow Splash," which not only sounds like a lemon-lime soft drink, but also seemingly steers the outgoing sixth-gen Mustang's current very-yellow Cyber Orange steeply away from school bus territory into something more solidly canary.

All-New Vapor Blue

The second of the two fresh "new" colors for the 2024 Ford Mustang is "Vapor Blue," which is an almost grey, metallic, moondust shade that borderlines on battleship. It may be new for Mustang, but it was recently available (per Ford) on the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV. That said, it's no longer on the current Ford consumer website's list of Mach-E color choices.

Grabber Blue

Considering the sixth-gen 2023 Mustang is currently available with it, as well as the Mustang Mach-E EV, it's really no surprise to see Ford's now-iconic shade of "Grabber Blue" available for the all-new seventh-gen pony car. This one will surely pick up a big allotment of the sales mix, but there's still some good competition in the color lineup to ... grab your attention.

To really send it over the top, Ford will offer its available Brembo brake calipers in a choice of three colors, one of which is also "Grabber Blue." Is Grabber on Grabber too much?

Atlas Blue

The third of the "blue shades" (even if one of them is borderline grey) available at the 2024 Mustang's launch is this darker metallic hue of "Atlas Blue," a fairly utilitarian shade found on many of Ford's cars and trucks over the years.

Race Red

The first of two available red hues is this very bright "Race Red" shade, which is hyper-pigmented and fairly flat compared to the other swatches. Wedged between the other, more metallic red and the new Yellow Splash in this photo, it looks borderline orange.

Rapid Red

If you sell a sports car, you gotta sell it in red. This is a fine, metallic shade of almost crimson, and it says a lot about the other available vibrant and exciting paint shades that this one doesn't really stand out more. We're curious how it would look with the 2024 Ford Mustang's available Bronze Design Series Appearance Package, which dips the exterior trims and wheels in bronze tone. Crimson and bronze could be a thing.

Oxford White

Breaking news: the 2024 Ford Mustang will be available in white. Which white? Oxford White, a classic color, but it's for rental cars mainly, and maybe some vintage GT350 homage paint jobs. What else can you say about white?

Ingot Silver

We can't quite get our heads around the choice to offer white, light silver, a shiny darker grey, a very dark grey, and a blue that's almost grey, but the 2024 Mustang manages that full palette of greyness. (We're assuming there's plenty of market research to back this decision up.)

Carbonized Grey

This metallic "Carbonized Grey" is arguably an improvement over something like white, and does show off the sculpted new body of the seventh-gen nicely, even if it's a little boring. What isn't boring is the new car's returning Coyote V-8 and available manual transmission, and though Ford is tight-lipped on exact power figures for now, we can expect around 500 horsepower.

Dark Matter Grey

If the grey-blue, silver, or lighter grey metallic colorways aren't for you, Ford will offer a very sparkly "Dark Matter" grey paint job that's just a few shades shy of black. With all that metallic fleck, never before has a shade of grey tried so hard to stand out.

Shadow Black

The final standard color available is black, but like the silvers and greys, it looks like Ford has made good effort to introduce a pronounced metallic quality to the paint job to help it catch the light and do something a little interesting.

Blue Ember (Dark Horse Exclusive)

While Ford does say there's only 11 paint choices for the 2024 Mustang, it does seem to be leaving out the neat "Blue Ember" metallic paint found on the special Dark Horse model, which is a cool-toned shade on the surface, but glows with warm metallic fleck accents in strong light.
