The 2023 model year will mark the end of the line for the Dodge Challenger. Dodge is giving the muscle car a proper send-off with seven special editions and an easier way for shoppers to order a Challenger convertible via third-party company Drop Top Customs. Lastly, Dodge is also expanding its SRT Jailbreak models for 2023 to include the more affordable Hellcat models.
The exterior design of the 2023 Dodge Challenger will remain the same for the upcoming model year. While Dodge isn’t offering the Challenger as a convertible, it’s made it easier for consumers to purchase a soft-top model via a new partnership with Drop Top Customs. The Challenger will continue to have a retro design with round headlights, a grille that’s recessed in the front fascia, and massive air vents. The rear end of the Challenger features a similar recessed piece for the taillights, a blocky rear end, and massive exhaust outlets.
Dodge won’t be making any changes to the Challenger’s interior for the 2023 model year. The Challenger has an interior design that’s inspired by classic muscle cars. The car has a thick-rimmed steering wheel, a center console that’s angled toward the driver, large gauges, and a thick shift knob. Because of the Challenger’s large stature, the coupe offers a generous amount of space and has a spacious set of rear seats.
Tech features for the 2023 Challenger will remain the same as the ones found on the current model. A 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, two USB ports, and six audio speakers are standard. Available features include an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a Harman Kardon audio system, navigation, navigation, and satellite radio.
Under the hood, the 2023 Dodge Challenger will continue to be available with a wide range of engines. A 3.6-liter V6 engine is standard, while a 6.4-liter V8 engine and a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine are available. Power ranges from 372 horsepower up to 807 hp. The Challenger is available with either an 8-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available.
The current Dodge Challenger is only available with a handful of safety features. A rearview camera is the only noteworthy standard safety feature. Available safety features include forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam assist, and rear parking sensors. These features should continue to be available on the 2023 Challenger.
Order books are now open for the last Charger and Challenger models in the current generation -- and it's not just the end of a generation. It's the end of the models in their current form as the brand makes way for electrification. (Check out the
Dodge Charger Daytona SRT EV concept unveiled earlier this year.) Dodge says nearly all of the 2023 model year Chargers and Challengers, from the entry-level SXT to the SRT Jailbreak have been allocated to Dodge dealerships. The
cool thing is that you can look up what vehicles are allotted to which CarPro dealerships using the Dodge Horsepower Locator online tool. It's available at DodgeGarage.com. If you enter your zip code, you'll see a list of dealerships (just pick the CarPro certified one) and you'll see a list of the available models at each. This includes model, special-edition model and trim level for Dodge Challenger and Charger vehicle order availability. “Dodge has been building special-edition muscle cars for the last decade, and we have yet to find an allocation methodology that
satisfies everyone. Our new ‘Last Call’ Horsepower Locator isn't going to satisfy everyone either, but it's our attempt to take the mystery out of it,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer - Stellantis. “We're making the process as transparent as possible, giving enthusiasts the power to search for each 2023 model and trim level allocated to each dealer. Our enthusiasts will have every opportunity to locate the Dodge 'Last Call' model they desire.” Note, orders are based on dealership allocations — not dealership inventory. You can see which models are still available for ordering through a dealer. For
Dodge Challenger and Charger models that are on a dealership lot or in transit to a dealer, customers will still be able to view these through the Search New Inventory function on Dodge.com. Dodge will update the system daily, Monday through Friday, during the first few months of vehicle ordering, so customers can get the very latest model availability at dealers. Since 2023 vehicle orders will be processed by
dealers, it will be easy to update the system based on specific dealerships. Orders will be confirmed within 30 days of placement via email, informing customers they have secured a coveted 2023 Dodge “Last Call” model. Customers will continue to receive updates on the vehicle's production status via email. Dodge says even the special-edition 2023 Dodge "Last Call" models — the
Dodge Challenger Shakedown, Dodge Charger Super Bee, Dodge Challenger and Charger Scat Pack Swinger,
Dodge Charger King Daytona and Dodge Challenger Black Ghost — will be searchable via the Dodge Horsepower Locator. Those models will be awarded to the top 500 volume dealerships. The top 200 dealers will receive 12 special-edition
models, dealers #201-300 in sales will receive 10 special-edition models, and dealers in the #301-500 range will receive six special-edition models."Last Call" Orders

Special-Edition Models
Each special-edition 2023 Dodge "Last Call" model will arrive pre-configured. Orders for special-edition “Last Call” models must be placed by contacting dealers with inventory of the desired special-edition vehicle.
We're still waiting on the seventh and final special-edition “Last Call” model to be announced at a later date.
