As long as they don't insist on UPS, I don't see why it hasn't been snapped up. My CR-240 is quite nice, though I'm preferring my CR-800 and CA-600 to it. Have you got the acreage to stable it?

Alex I am very curious about Yamaha also..My HT setup has as yamaha receiver, but I never really explored the merits of Yamaha vintage gear..Tell us more!!!

Here's what the best Yamaha guy I know wrote of a CR-840 I found for sale:

I would not bid on any 640, 840 or 1040 unless it is definitely working just because of those pre-driver hybrids. The two little ones, 240 and 440 don't use the pre-driver and the 2040 is all discrete.

Had two of these. One with awfull metalic sound that exchanged for a Sansui. The other sounds great and look forward to keep. Always trust your earing.

Great sounding and looking receiver! A real thing of beauty with those bouncing vu-meters. Soundwise its a step up from the 70’s NS models. They were IMO great, but a slight bit woolly sounding. The CR-1040 has a tighter and more dynamic sound, allthough the variable loudness (great feature) can bring it back to the 70’s:) RIAA is super Nice, and worth the price alone. An impressive amp! Very highly recommended.

Love the look of this unit I also love the sound all around very nice unit.

Great natural sound with plenty of power. I highly recommend this receiver to anyone who wants to drive bigger speakers while still having a wonderful sound. The only downside is that it is impossible to obtain new output drivers. Other than that it is a great receiver.
