Where is print preview in MS Word?

Later versions of Microsoft Word do not allow users to Edit text in Print Preview. Rather, the Edit mode only lets you edit the print preview without returning to the document. However, theres a workaround for this problem. The users can use the Print Preview Edit Mode feature instead of Print Preview.

Edit text in Print Preview in Microsoft Word

As the name suggests, Print Preview is a way of viewing what a printed version of the document would look like on the screen before getting a hard copy of it. So, you can find any errors that may exist or fix the layout before printing.

In Microsoft Word, you cannot edit the text in Print preview. You have two options to enable Edit text in Print Preview. You can turn on Print Preview Edit Mode feature using this workaround.
  1. Add Print Preview Edit Mode feature to Quick Access Toolbar
  2. Add Print Preview Edit Mode feature by customizing a ribbon.

Let us see how to go about doing this.

1] Add Print Preview Edit Mode feature to Quick Access Toolbar

Launch Microsoft Word application and select File tab from the Ribbon menu.

Next, choose Options from the left pane.

In the Word Options window that opens separately, select Quick Access Toolbar and then choose All Commands option by hitting the drop-down arrow visible under Choose commands from setting.

Now, select Print Preview Edit Mode, and then click Add.

In the end, hit the OK button.

2] Add Print Preview Edit Mode feature by customizing a ribbon

On the File menu, click Options.

Click Customize Ribbon, and then click All Commands in the Choose commands from drop-down list.

Click Print Preview Edit Mode, and then click Add.

When done, hit the Ok button.
