2023 Ford Bronco Raptor Engine

Rumor has it that the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor won't include a V8 engine, and we think it will have a 450-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine instead to maintain efficiency. It should pair with the automaker's ten-speed automatic transmission and a well-calibrated four-wheel-drive system.

2023 Ford Bronco Raptor Fuel Capacity & MPG

We won’t know how the Bronco Raptor performs closer to its debut. However, the V6 engine will be more efficient than if it was equipped with a V8.

2023 Ford Bronco Raptor Storage

The 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor will feature the same amount of space as the standard lineup. However, it's unclear whether the model will be offered strictly as a four-door or also have a two-door variant, which would affect cargo space.

2023 Ford Bronco Raptor Technology

The 2023 Ford Bronco should include the SYNC 4 infotainment system, and it will also have a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. You should be able to upgrade with a navigation system and premium sound system for even more fun.

What's New

Ford resurrected the Bronco SUV in 2021 and introduced the high-performance Raptor in 2022. So, we’re not surprised to see the 2023 Bronco roll into the new model year without any major changes. There are new Bronco Heritage and Heritage Limited Editions that have a similar design to the SUVs from the ‘60s. Besides these new limited-edition models, the Bronco is a carryover model for 2023.

Choosing Your Ford Bronco

With the two new Heritage Editions, the Bronco lineup now spans a total of 10 models: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Heritage Edition, Badlands, Wildtrak, Everglades, Heritage Limited Edition, and Raptor.

Pricing varies wildly based on trim, as the Base starts at $33,890 and the Raptor costs $75,375 (prices include destination). All of the trims, besides the Everglades and the Raptor, are available in both two- and four-door configurations.

The Bronco shouldn't be confused with the Bronco Sport, which shares a similar-sounding name but is a crossover vehicle based on the Ford Escape.

Engine Choices

The 2023 Ford Bronco is available with three different engines, all of which are turbocharged. A seven-speed manual transmission is standard on the base four-cylinder engine, while a 10-speed automatic transmission is available for $1,595.

The available V6 engines come with an automatic transmission. Adding the V6 engine to the Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, and Badlands costs $3,490. The Outer Banks is special, since it’s only available with an automatic, which makes the V6 a $1,895 option.

Ford offers the Bronco with multiple four-wheel-drive systems. The base system has a terrain selector, selectable engagement, and a two-speed transfer case. Consumers can also spec the available Advanced 4x4 system that brings automatic engagement and extra terrain select systems. This 4WD system is available on all trims as an option except on the Badlands and Wildtrak. Depending on trim level, body style, and configuration, the Advanced 4x4 system can cost between $795 to $7,385.

Engine Type Horsepower Torque Fuel Economy (Combined)
2.3L Turbo 4-Cylinder 270 hp 310 lb-ft 20 mpg
2.7L Turbo V6 310 hp 400 lb-ft 19 mpg
3.0-liter Twin-Turbo V6 418 hp 440 lb-ft 15 mpg

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The two-door Bronco offers seating for up to four people, while the four-door model can seat up to five. Unlike most SUVs, the Bronco has removable doors and roof.

Two-door Broncos aren’t especially roomy, as they offer 22.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and a total of 52.3 cubic feet of total cargo space. The four-door is far roomier with 35.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and a total of 77.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded.

Safety Features

The entry-level Bronco doesn’t come with a lot of advanced safety features as standard. The Base comes with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, and automatic high-beam assist.

Consumers looking for more safety features will have to move up to the Big Bend, Black Diamond, and Badlands, which are available with Ford Co-Pilot360 as part of the Mid Package that’s priced at $1,495. The Co-Pilot360 suite includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, and rear parking sensors.

The Wildtrak and Outer Banks are available with the $1,295 High Package that includes front parking sensors and a surround-view camera. These trims are also available with a Lux Package that brings evasive steering assist and adaptive cruise control for $3,590. These two features are also offered on the Badlands as part of the $5,085 Lux Package.

Connectivity

The standard infotainment system in the Bronco includes an eight-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four USB ports, and six audio speakers. An eight-inch digital instrument cluster is also standard. Navigation is a part of the Mid Package on the trims where it’s available, while it’s standard on the Outer Banks and Wildtrak.

Springing for the High Package where it’s available brings a 12-inch touchscreen. A 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system and a wireless charging pad are available through the Lux Package.

2023 Ford Bronco Base – MSRP From $33,890

The Base trim is very much an entry-level model with 16-inch steel wheels, LED headlights, tow hooks, and heated exterior mirrors. The cabin features cloth upholstery, six-way manually adjustable front seats, manual climate control, remote keyless entry, a manual tilt-and-telescoping steering column, and power windows.

The Sasquatch Package is the only major one for the Base trim. It costs $6,590 and includes 17-inch wheels, a 4.7 final drive ratio, electronic locking front and rear differentials, high-clearance suspension, high-clearance fender flares, and 35-inch mud-terrain tires. The Sasquatch Package is available on the majority of Broncos, but varies in pricing.

2023 Ford Bronco Big Bend – MSRP From $37,880

Bumping up to the Big Bend brings LED fog lights, a unique grille, 17-inch alloy wheels, 32-inch all-terrain tires, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and tinted windows.

The Mid Package includes dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient footwell lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated front seats, and remote start. The package costs $1,495. The Sasquatch package costs $6,590.

2023 Ford Bronco Black Diamond – MSRP From $40,545

For extra off-roading capability, the Black Diamond is the trim to explore. It adds heavy-duty skid plates, heavy-duty front and rear bumpers, a black grille, rock rails, 17-inch steel wheels, vinyl upholstery, and rubber flooring.

This trim is also available with the $1,495 Mid Package and the $6,090 Sasquatch Package.

2023 Ford Bronco Outer Banks – MSRP From $43,450

Instead of focusing on off-roading, the Outer Banks is more about styling and comfortable off-roading with 18-inch aluminum wheels, upgraded LED headlights, side step rails, and all of the features from the Mid Package on lower trims.

The High Package costs $1,295 and includes extra sound deadening, an LED spotlight, LED approach lights, and the larger infotainment screen.

The Lux Package is priced at $3,195 and brings a heated steering wheel, a universal garage door opener, dual smart charging USB ports, and extra tech features.

The Sasquatch package costs $4,200.

2023 Ford Bronco Heritage Edition – MSRP From $45,900

Consumers can think of the Heritage Edition as an appearance package, as it mostly changes the way the Bronco looks. It includes a two-tone paint job, a modular hardtop roof, a white grille, red badging, 17-inch wheels, fender flares, fog lights, plaid cloth upholstery, and a white instrument panel over the Big Bend’s features.

The Sasquatch Package is standard.

2023 Ford Bronco Badlands – MSRP From $46,690

The Badlands combines the Big Bend’s features with the Black Diamond’s off-roading equipment. It comes with upgraded LED headlights, unique suspension, 33-inch all-terrain tires, a front stabilizer bar disconnect, and electronically locking axles.

Available packages include the $1,495 Mid Package, the $2,790 High Package, and the $4,690 Lux Package. The Sasquatch Package costs $4,090.

2023 Ford Bronco Wildtrak – MSRP From $54,375

Building on the Outer Banks’ list of standard equipment, the Wildtrak adds special graphics, the Sasquatch Package, the 2.7-liter V6 engine, and prewired auxiliary switches.

The Wildtrak is available with the High Package ($1,295) and the Lux Package ($3,195).

2023 Ford Bronco Everglades – MSRP From $55,490

Ford only offers the Everglades as a four-door. The trim is based on the Black Diamond, but adds LED headlights, unique exterior graphics, special front and rear fenders, a winch, a heavy-duty front bumper, an air snorkel, vinyl upholstery, the Mid Package, and the Sasquatch Package.

2023 Ford Bronco Heritage Limited Edition – MSRP From $68,490

For shoppers that want the look of the Heritage Edition, but the off-roading capability of the Badlands, there’s the Heritage Limited Edition. It includes the 2.7-liter V6 engine, leather- and vinyl-trimmed plaid seats, red accent stitching, unique badges, the Lux Package, and the Sasquatch Package.

2023 Ford Bronco Raptor – MSRP From $75,375

The Raptor is the ultimate version of the Bronco and has the most off-roading prowess. It has a unique twin-turbo V6 engine, special long-travel suspension, 37-inch tires, Fox shock absorbers, wider fenders, a vented hood, upgraded brakes, revised axles, a restructured frame, additional cabin bracing, sport seats, an active exhaust system, and unique exterior and interior styling elements.

The only major package on the Raptor is the Lux Package which costs $2,300.
