I see complaints about these headphones about poor fidelity and needing EQ to sound good. Good grief folks - they are $10.00 not $1200 studio cans. I got these for doing dubs in my studio - they work fine. And if someone steps on them - who cares... They do make some serious bass but its workable. Again - for the price??? Could do a lot worse. Sound isolation is fine. Wish they came with a 1/4" adapter, but.....I bet the $1200 do. Really Betron - get with it...

I had ordered another headset from a very highly regarded brand and sent them back, as they sounded muted. This set is a third of the price, and the specs did not give a sensitivity rating (dB), but I took a chance and ordered. BINGO! Perfect! The box says sensitivity is 108 dB, the minimum I was hoping for, so it worked out. Will buy this brand from now on! It looks awesome too, and even comes with a carrying bag. I'm just over the moon.

These headphones are really good quality for the price. My only small gripe is the initial comfort as they are designed for folks with a much smaller head than I've got, but with nearly a month and then some for me to leave them on my computer case spread open for some natural widening over time, I've broken them in and they've gone from "Comfortable for 3 hours" to "I can wear these all days with minimal added ear pressure." For most normal people these should be comfortable from the get go, I just have a really large head. XD Highly recommend them, the sound is nice and clear!

Don’t think I would’ve gotten a better headset for the price I paid anywhere else. Looks professional and the sound is ample. Lightweight and comfortable.

I can't stand these headphones out of the box. There is no soundstage since the apparent open diaphragm design of the housing is just for looks, the holes are fake. This makes passive noise cancellation decent at the cost of sound quality. The audio is forceful, extremely loud and muddy as a result, weird oversight. I might try to modify them (cut holes and/or replace ear cushions) to see if it improves the sound quality.

The headphones are not comfortable in the slightest. I don't have a large head but the ear cushions are large, and very firm, so there is always pressure on the corner of my jaw and just in font of my ear. The fatigue is real after long sessions despite how light they are. I may try to bend/stretch them like other reviewers did.

I would not recommend to most listeners despite the low price, I hope this company makes better headphones in the future. The components inside seem ok, but It feels like they didn't really care about acoustics. Perhaps Beatron rushed these out the door without testing to see if the design of the housing/pads hurt sound quality. 2 out of 5 stars out of the box.

Experiments to come.

If you like modifying headphones I feel like you could have some fun with this without breaking the bank. They are fairly easy to disassemble, so if I end up rebuilding these and improving them I'll do a follow up. Might take it to 3 even 4 stars.

I hope they make a better pair of budget headphones in the future. I can see the potential despite the conflicts in engineering.

-Modifications-

I used a Dremel to drill some real holes in the faux holes and it improved the muddy midrange and bass. I put 16 holes in each side. Clear improvement, the soundstage and balance have improved. I might do more holes as the quality is increasing the more I "open" the diaphragm.

The headphones are very easy to drive so you don't have to worry about losing volume doing the soundstage mod I described. Bending the metal headband outwards near the earcups helped with the extreme jaw pressure, but I still wouldn't call them comfortable.

I adjusted my up rating to 3 stars, Beatron should have never claimed these as the "high fidelity, balanced sound" pair in their lineup, they're poorly balanced emphasizing bass so if you were expecting studio cans for editing its a no go. For the price, IF you are willing to modify them, they are decent for casual listening.

These are big, but they’re very lightweight and have great padding. I’ve worn them for several hours at a time without any discomfort or annoying pressure points. Overall fit is great and I have a giant dome. Sound quality is definitely a notch or two worse than my Sony cans, but at 10% of the price that’s a very reasonable trade off. They don’t fold or rotate so they can take up a lot of space, but overall this is a very good product at an excellent price.

Pros: Looks great

Cons: That's it. It looks great, but it's all bark no bite. The sound isn't mid-range, being that everything that goes through it sounds like a muffled can-on-a-string, and due to the round shape and smaller around the ear size, it's not comfortable at all if you have longer ears like I do. Wearing it for even one song makes my ears ache from being compressed, and the audio leaves a LOT to be desired.

For the price I could get 3 Skull Candy headphones that have significantly better audio, more comfort and a cheaper, easy to break build instead of this.

The bass is deep and precise which is what I’ve been on a quest for. I use these for mixing in the studio and I’m very pleased with the bass reference and translation. The mids and highs are accurate and smooth. Love these. Will be buying more. In my opinion these are some of the best head phones out there particularly because of the bass response. At 20 bucks just buy and try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice head phones not exactly noise cancelling

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 24, 2023

Nice comfortable wearing head phones, good volume, not that exceptional at noise cancelling but good for the price

3.0 out of 5 stars Muddy out of the box and not for prolonged wear due to stitching

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 5, 2017

Pros: - decent build for a penny shy of £20 - metal headband + plastic band to prevent them from sliding off when moving head - with an equaliser applied, they sound decent and resolution is pretty good (see cons, though) - mostly soft ear pads - a bit of noise isolation

Cons (that knocked stars off) - equaliser necessary for decent sound quality (very boxy due to recessed mids and high otherwise) - stitching on ear pads makes them stiff exactly where they touch my ears, resulting in discomfort and some pain after about an hour of use - distortions even at lower than medium volume - left driver much quieter (barely audible) at low volume than the right one - goes away

Cons (that didn't affect the rating and I had been aware of when purchasing): - ear pads are fixed - cable is fixed and tends to twirl practically by itself - they can leak sound even at lower volumes (but this could be because my ears would list the pads a little)

Other bits, possibly of interest to some: - these are pretty loud - if you'd like to gift these to someone, the packaging is nice enough, if not particularly stylish

The review itself: Recently, my

Mad Catz F.R.E.Q.M Wired Headset - Matte black developed an intermittent issue with one channel flaking out and a piece of retaining plastic snapped off of the Audio-Technica ATH-WM55 Headphone I have, I have started looking for a new pair of headphones. I originally started looking into rather expensive headphones, but then realised my selection process could get rather lengthy and I wanted a pair with some noise isolation abilities sooner rather than later, which my older over ear headphones didn't really provide and noisy neighbours tend to spoil my sounds fairly often these days. The Betron Retro seemed like it could be a good stop-gap, and I hoped that perhaps it could last a bit as well.

The headphones themselves look quite nice, although both by their looks and their feel in the hand, you can tell that they're practically all plastic. Decent plastic for the most part, except for the bit on the earcups with the Betron logo, which feels a bit frail. The gold-coloured bands seem to be, however, metal.

I have a rather large noggin, and have no issues putting these on. The plastic band adjusts itself automatically and works as a sort of anti-skid protection, while the metal bands provide the tension to keep the headphones on. They're not particularly tight, but I had to wiggle my head a fair bit to get them to start sliding off. The pads are thick and pretty soft for the most part. However, while my ears aren't small, I don't think they're quite that large, and they only fit into the cups if I help them a little. That wouldn't be an issue, except my ears get under the edges of the pads and there's lies my first issue with them - the stitching makes the edges that are on my ears stiff and lead to some pain after about an hour of wearing these. They aren't changeable. Someone with smaller ears could likely find these very comfortable, however.

I have let these 'burn in' for 36 hours off my head plus about 8-10 more hours of listening to varying genres of music and human speech, all at low to medium volume. Here comes my second issue with these. Without using an equaliser, they sound very boxy, about as much when I first tried them on after they came as after the burn-in. Lows are either overpowering, or mids and high are very recessed. Not an issue if you don't mind fiddling with an equalizer, but quite annoying without it. I had thought I could get used to it, but I miss clarity above bass pretty much all the time. Additionally, I could hear them distorting some frequencies.

With some help of an EQ, however, they are much better. Very decent even, except the distortions become much more apparent. I had suspected this was perhaps due to lower quality of the input files (MP3, 320 kbps, 2 channels), but I have some clip-on earphones and in-ears and I didn't hear the distortion through them. It also seemed that when I lowered volume enough, the left driver was suddenly much quieter than the right one. Were it not for the distortion issues, they would actually be better than the headphones I mentioned earlier with the equalizer on.

I would say the

Koss KSC75 Clip-On Stereo Headphones for iPod, iPhone, MP3 and Smartphone - Silver/Black sound better still (comparing the Betron Retro with the EQ on and the Koss without it). They offer more clarity, slightly better resolution (by a hair) and are very well balanced out of the box. The frequency range I could hear was about 35Hz - 15.5 kHz on both, but the Betron starts rolling off practically straight above bass, whereas the Koss barely at all throughout the range.

I'm not sure whether mine were slightly defective or not (regarding the distortions and left driver issue), but the ear pads and need of an equaliser by themselves made me return these.

Given the issues, mine are going back and I'll be splashing a fair bit more on closed cup headphones with better sound (sans EQ) , less distortion and more comfortable ear pads.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good materials, Mediocre build

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 25, 2023

While the sound produced by them is about what you'd expect at this price there are also others cheaper and a little more expensive that perform better, these are things like Superlux HD681, Monoprice HD DJ, KZ ZSN Pro X/KBEar KS2 and Samson SR850.

The materials they chose are really solid but the earcups have no swivel and while the headband is self adjusting I found, at least for me, it hits the metal it's made of every time, the earpads are subpar even at this price, In my opinion spend a little more for some really good and cheap closed backs like AKG K52, or if you want something around the price of these or like open backs the Superlux HD681 and for people who want to take great but cheap sound with them, KZ ZSN Pro X.

4.0 out of 5 stars For the price they are not bad.

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 30, 2021

I'd ideally give these headphones a 3.5 out of 5 if possible. I'll explain why below:

Design: Firstly, these look great and they seem well made. I'm terms of comfort I'm afraid to say they aren't quite good enough. The earpads are big, thick and comfortable, but weirdly, I can feel a hard plastic thing pressing against my head through the earpads. No idea what it is, but it would become annoying over time. The adjustable headband is great. Materials are of a good quality considering the price of this product.

Sound: This is a difficult thing to review on this product, because I'm used to more expensive headphones. I would say for the £16 I paid for them, the sound is pretty good. In fact, I doubt you would find better sound for less than this. But it's not perfect. The bass isn't quite rich enough to be exciting. Mids are decent. Highs get a bit lost unfortunately. That said.....for £16, the sound is pretty impressive.

If you fancy something similar to this, I would recommend looking at the AKG K52's. They are only slightly more expensive but are leaps and bounds better in sound quality. The only annoying thing about the AKG's is the cable is pretty long. But I'd say the AKG's are a much better buy.

Is betron a good brand?

Betron B750s Review Conclusion They are well made, well designed & sound absolutely amazing for the price. It is very hard for us to come up with any major negatives because of the low price – yes the cable could be a little nicer and the fit could be a little bit better, but this would push the price up further.
