The drive installed perfectly and does exactly what it's supposed to do. Great storage expansion for $25. Recommended

I do not know if this is a single lemon or a bad tree. I am very disappointed with my unit. The unit I received appeared to be a refurbished unit, although it isn’t labeled as such. I’ve tried using it with 3 different USB 3.1 to SATA III adaptors, and on a SATA III interface on 2 separate desktops. I never got it to be seen by Windows 10 Pro or by Linux. For the record these interfaces worked with Samsung and WD Blue SSDs. This is my first 1500 Pro SSD. My experience in the past was very good so this failure is even more disappointing.

Really, really slow for an SSD. According to Crystal Disk: Read: 240 MB, Write: 168 MB. Really awful performance for an SSD. Don't buy!

Hey, after seeing the reviews on this after encountering a used one, I wanted to bring actual benchmarks along with a comparison with what you'd get in a typical 2019 budget 240GB SATA SSD. In this case, one from MC, the Inland 240GB SATA SSD. You will see the two images I've attached, the first being this model Intel Pro 1500 240GB, the second being the Inland. Of course these days it would make the most sense to buy the new budget model, new warranty, etc. I figured this information would be useful to show that in practical terms, there is no difference in end-user performance for a daily-use PC. Things like running lots of browser tabs, running Outlook with large email accounts, loading games, installing/uninstalling apps, running Windows updates, the performance is going to be so similar as to need benchmarks to really see much of a difference.

If you have a newer system, be sure to check if it is capable of running the M.2 nVME solid state drives. These have much higher performance potential than is possible with SATA ports. If you have a system that DOES have an M.2 slot, but can only run M.2 SATA SSDs, then don't worry, there is no difference other than form factor in choosing 2.5" SATA vs M.2 SATA SSDs.

Further, if you have a system with purely SATA ports, check your model/manual/documentation to make sure you connect any SSDs to available 6.0Gbps ports AKA SATA-3. The drive will function fine on Sata 3Gbps AKA SATA-2, or even original Sata 1.5Gbps AKA SATA-1, but performance and features will be limited. Running on SATA-3 with a modern OS will ensure the best performance and durability of your SATA SSD, as things like TRIM and optimized cache access are limited with older SATA ports and/or operating systems.

This test system as used in the screen grabs is an Intel DQ77 Mainboard, 8GB DDR3 1600, running Windows 10 x64 v1903 with current updates on an i7-3770 CPU.

I can't say anything bad about Intel SSD's. I've installed at least 10 and have yet to see one fail.

I worked with many HP laptops that came with this drive, and all of them had very fast and excellent performance.
