Laneige layering cover cushion đánh giá năm 2024

Hello lovelies and welcome to the new year!!! How was the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 been for all of you?

For our first review of the year… the Laneige Layering Cover Cushion. A 2-in-1 cushion with concealer AND foundation!! And one that actually has more than just TWO colors to it!!!

It isn’t a new product out in the market but I just got to trying it out last November. I’ve been using this for a month or so now in the hot Australian summer (Pls. save a prayer for our fire-ravaged south east 😦 )and after a month of use, I feel ready to say my piece on this.

A bit of basic information, this cushion is a 2-in-1 cushion that has a concealer to even out the skin tone and a cushion foundation. The concealer side is on the left and is a pretty small, shallow foam base versus the cushion foundation on the right.

The concealer is supposedly created with an “aqua melting technology” which melts into the skin on contact and provides high coverage. Both the foundation and concealer is suppose to have a water capture system that allows for hydrating and cooling effect on the skin. It contains ingredients such as french sparkling water, hydro ion mineral water and lychee fruit extract.

Interestingly the puff used for this is in a teardrop shape that is divided into two parts – the upper pointy part is suppose to be for the concealer and allows for a semi-matte finish (the upper cross-section of the concealer puff supposedly provides poreless dense matte coverage) whilst the Air puff for the cushion is suppose to provide a hydro-radiant finish.

Impressions

(Since these two are meant to act as a unit together, I will review it as such.)

  • Formula: The concealer is a little bit heavier than the foundation but both are not heavy on the first layer. ADDING layers though, especially of the concealer, can make it slightly cakey. The formula doesn’t oxidise so it’s pretty good on the color front as well. Note that the concealer is slightly brighter in color than the foundation, this is INTENTIONAL as the concealer is suppose to provide a brightening effect on your complexion.
  • Coverage: Buildable . As per the image on the left, it can conceal MOST of pigmentation except for the darkest. I used the concealer and then one heavy dab of the foundation on my hand (I’d normally use a heavy dab for ALL of my face so putting that much on my hand actually made it feel slightly cakey but impressively decent coverage.)
  • Longevity: Hnng. I DID put on more of the concealer one time i tried this because my face can get seriously oily in the summer time but I find that while it does turn it semi-matte, it also feels heavier on the skin. It can last up to….six hours? Maybe? They claim it’s sweat proof but honey, it is really not. Not for people like me who overheat really quickly at least and have overactive sweat glands.
  • Finish: Semi-Matte if you put the concealing base on before the cushion, Luminous (I’d say mid-dewy, it’s not frightfully dewy like some cushions can be) if you use the cushion on it’s own and not the concealer, Matte if you use the cushion first then the concealing base and if you want a “full coverage” feel, use only the concealer on the full face.
  • Fragrance: Yes. Weird perfumey smell I can’t quite peg down mixed with an alcoholic aftersmell. I don’t quite like it as it is particularly strong.

Conclusions

I really really wanted to love this cushion because one, it’s a pretty package, the classy rose bronze compact is just right up my alley. Two, having my concealer chosen for me so that it matches up to my foundation and having the formulas actually compliment each other is nice, it takes away all the guesswork I have to do to make sure my makeup is all in sync and won’t react negatively towards each other. ALSO, it has such a great range of color for a Korean foundation brand! Not to mention all of these:

I DO love the versatility of this cushion. I can go semi-matte on this cushion and it does feel like next to nothing on my skin (unless layered on to high heavens). It DOES go on pretty decently, it’s not a full coverage, instant WOW when you put it on but it isn’t bad. However, for some reason, and I cannot put my finger on it, it seems to always look just slightly off. Like it somehow looks like it’s really just SITTING on top of my skin, it doesn’t look natural? It also isn’t great at covering skin texture. Normal skin texture, yes! But I have really big pores on my nose and cheeks and those still stand out. Less so if you only use the concealer on it’s own without the cushion foundation but if you have dry skin I would totally not use the concealer on it’s own, it sticks to dry patches.

(I am sorry I didn’t put any other makeup with the cushion only and concealer only days, pls. ignore the incomplete look. And the light change.)

It is also NOT sweat proof for overactive sweat glands and easily overheating people like me. Time and again I’ve looked at it and I’ve seen darkness under my eyes peeking through at the six hour mark.

So, would I recommend it? I quite honestly do not know if I do. But I hesitate to say why. This should have been the PERFECT cushion for my oily skin because of the pore-reducing, skin brightening, pigmentation cover it promises. The concept of versatility is an amazing concept but in practice, this cushion failed to implement. I don’t even have to wait for the end of the day, by the end of the 3 hour mark, the formula had LIFTED from my face. I tried it over and over for a month but it just doesn’t work out as well as I’d hope. If you ask me what’s wrong with it, I can’t tell you but I can tell you that with just one look, I can already see that this cushion does not look GOOD on my face. I have had better 😦

It maybe that it is JUST me though so I wouldn’t completely not recommend this. It’s an interesting concept that would be great for convenience for most people, IF the product works for you.

I hope that helps in some way, even if it is a tad bit confusing!
