How to Request Continuing Education (CE) Approval

Both licensees and CE course providers may request to have CE courses approved by the Board. You must use the DELPROS online portal to request approval of a CE course(s) that you either have taken or want to take (licensees) or want to provide to licensees (providers). Continuing Education Requirement

The content and amount of continuing education (CE) that you are required to complete depends on when your license was issued and whether you are a Broker/Associate Broker or a Salesperson. This page summarizes the requirements. However, for complete information on the CE requirements, see Section 13.0 of the Commission’s Rules and Regulations.

New Salesperson Education Requirements

The Delaware Real Estate Commission has implemented changes pertaining to new Salesperson licensees, effective May 1, 2022.

All newly licensed individuals, other than individuals licensed by reciprocity, must complete the following twelve hours of required new salesperson course modules, no later than 90 days after the date of issuance of the individual’s license:

  • Three (3) hours in professional standards for new licensees.
  • Three (3) hours in agreement of sale and buyer representation for new licensees.
  • Three (3) hours in real estate documents and seller representation for new licensees.
  • Three (3) hours in real estate professionalism for new licensees.

These new salesperson course modules will be in addition to the continuing education required for licensure renewal and will be included in the continuing education audit.

Required Hours for First Renewal

Use this chart to determine how much CE you must complete for your first renewal as a Broker, Associate Broker or Salesperson in Delaware.

  • This chart applies to your first renewal as a Broker or Associate Broker even when you were previously a Delaware-licensed Salesperson.
  • This chart does not apply to your first renewal as a Broker or Associate Broker when you changed broker type (that is, from Broker to Associate Broker or vice versa) during the previous two years. In this situation, the amount of required CE is the same as if you had not changed from one broker type to the other.

If this is your first renewal, and you hold a:

Required Content for First Renewal

If you are a newly-licensed Broker or Associate Broker or if you are a Salesperson licensed by reciprocity, the content of your CE must be based on the required Module Course Contents.

If you are a newly-licensed Salesperson who was not previously licensed in another jurisdiction, the content of your CE must meet the following requirements:

  • You must complete the four Newly-Licensed Salesperson Modules, totaling 12 CE hours, within the first 12 months after your license is issued. These 12 hours will be applied to the required amount of CE hours based on the chart above.
  • If your CE requirement is 21 hours based on the chart above, you must complete core modules 1, 5, and 6 listed in Module Course Contents.These three modules are in addition to the required four Newly-Licensed Salesperson Modules that you must complete in your first 12 months of licensure.
  • If your CE requirement is 18 hours based on the chart above, you must complete any two of core modules 1, 5 or 6 listed in Module Course Contents. These two modules are in addition to the required four Newly-Licensed Salesperson Modules that you must complete in your first 12 months of licensure.
  • If your CE requirement is 12 or 6 hours based on the chart above, you will meet your CE requirement by completing Newly-Licensed Salesperson Modules.

Subsequent Renewal Periods

Active Real Estate Professionals (Broker, Associate Broker, Salesperson) must complete 21 hours of approved CE during each full licensure renewal periods between May 1 and April 30 even-numbered years (2016-2018, 2018-2020, etc.). The content of your CE must be based on the required Module Course Contents.

Entering Continuing Education in the CE Tracker

Continuing Education (CE) is tracked in DELPROS, the Delaware Professional Regulation Online Service. To enter your CE, you must first create a DELPROS user account.  Go to the DELPROS online portal, and then click on Apply/Manage a License and Service Requests. If you:

  • are already an existing user, log in with your email address and password under the existing user section.
  • have not yet created a DELPROS user account, click on REGISTER.

After creating your user account or logging into the DELPROS online portal, you may begin entering your CE.

  • Click on the CONTINUING EDUCATION link in the dark blue banner at the top of the page
  • Click on ADD COURSE button
  • After choosing your profession, complete the other fields and click on SAVE
  • You will get a message of Success if the information you entered was created successfully
  • Click on CONTINUE to add more courses, upload documents, or delete entries if you made an error

When you are done, click on your Dashboard on the dark blue banner at the top of the page to renew your license or choose another service.

General Audit Information

Random audits are performed by the Board to ensure compliance with the license requirements. License holders selected for the random audit must verify that they have completion of the required CPE, as applicable and any other information required by the Board to confirm their continued eligibility for the license.  For complete information, see Section 4.3 of the Board’s Rules and Regulations.

Audit Requirements

Do not upload any CPE documentation into DELPROS unless notified that you have been selected for audit.  If you submit your online renewal application after the expiration date, your CE will be audited.

If you are selected for audit, you must upload the following documentation:

  • Completed and signed Real Estate CE Log. If you are a salesperson or an associate broker your current Broker of Record must also sign the CE log.
  • Certificate of completion for each course that you entered on the CE Log in DELPROS. If you are a newly-licensed Salesperson, this would include the certificates for the four required Newly-Licensed Salesperson Modules.

At a minimum, the documentation for each course must show:

  • Your name
  • Course name
  • Course sponsor
  • Course instructors
  • Course dates
  • Hours of attendance
