Since migrating to the new version I am experiencing the dreaded skipping and encoding issues in YouTube Music as well as songs prematurely cross-fading. These problems never occurred when using the predecessor product of Google Play Music. The problems only occur when listening to imported playlists. As the problems only occur when listening to YouTube Music via Sonos and not when using the YouTube Music app, YouTube support says this is an issue that I must work out with Sonos.

Hello I am having the same problem as the Op. I have beenusing Google Play Music but they shut it down and I switched over to YouTube Music. Now I am getting song not encoded errors on music that I have been able to listening to on my playlists through Google Play Music for over a year now. One such song is Tool: Invincible. I can play other songs on this album but that song is not encoded correctly.

I have submit support diagnostics. My confirmation number is: 739131568. And let me just say that I really have nothing better to do than try to figure out, for the fourth time in as many years, why the songs on my Sonos system are skipping.

I cannot think of any product I have been less impressed with than Sonos. All I want to do is play the music that I own. But the ability to play music directly fromthe iphone was taken away a few years ago. This was after a few months of experiencing music skipping and shutting down seemingly randomly. Finally I figured out that when my iphone screen locked or shut off, the music skipped to the next song and played part of it and then shut off again. And then the option to play music from the iphone was completely removed by Sonos. So I had to start paying for Google Music Play each month just so I could listen to music I already own. And now I am switching over to Youtube Music which I also have to pay for, to continue listening to musicI already own. When I started using Google Music Play, I had issues with some songs not being encoded correctly. So I followed advice on forum posts and reconfigured the channels on my router until I found something that worked. And now I am here again. Thank you Sonos for all the years of frustration and irritation. I am going to get back to work now.

Hi @Tahlyan.

Thanks for reaching out and for your detailed post, sorry to hear about the trouble, let me help and try to figure this out.

First off, we need to verify thatmusic is in a supported format. If they are in the correct format then it is something else. Could be an IP conflict, refreshing the IP addresses by restarting things in sequence does often fix problems.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, then itcould be due to interference that the system detected based on the diagnostic that you have submitted. This article will help you reduce wireless interference around your Sonos products.

If the above advice was followed and the issue persists, please submit a new diagnostic report so I can check the system further and see if theres anything else causing this issue.

Let us know how it goes and if you have any questions feel free to reach out, were always here to help.

Im having the same issue described here. Im using Controller version 12.2. Songs with skip without fail if I ever pause playback and resume. Worse is when listening to a song and it skips randomly to the next song. Very frustrating. My sonos doesnt support airplay so I cant go that route. Diagnostic:1557284297

Hi @gsindelar.

Thanks for reaching out and for your effort in submitting the diagnostic.

Upon checking the diagnostic report, the system detected a transport error that results in an audioplayback issue. This condition can be due to a possibly weak WiFi connection or wireless interference. You may check this article thatwill help you reduce wireless interference around your Sonos products.

If the above advice was followed and the issue persists, please submit a new diagnostic report so I can check the system further and see if theres anything else causing this issue.

@Annazel S

I use Google Wifi which does not allow me to specify which wireless channel Sonos uses. It doesnt matter where in my house I place my Sonos speaker, the same playback issues occurs. Also, I have no playback issue with any other music provider I use. The reproduction steps are simple, play song on YouTube Music, pause song, resume song, within a matters of seconds the error pops up and skips to the next song. New diagnostic report:294607336

I seriously doubt that this is a Wifi issue. I have been having the exact same problem on my system since the switch to YouTube music, and yet all other music services work fine. This is a well-known issue between Google and Sonos. My solution is not to pause and restart songs. Which s****.

Sonos support staff should perhaps read what people are saying and stop suggesting fixes that dont make any sense. People are getting this on Youtube music only. They did not have this issue with Google Play, and are not having the issue with any other service. Please look into what is causing this. It is happening to several users, so it it probably not poor wifi

Theres two potential issues beyond the normal YouTube doesnt support Sonos very well answer. Id double checkthe wifi interference FAQ and also perform a network refresh by unplugging all the Sonos devices, and while they are unplugged, reboot your router. Once the router comes back up, plug back in the Sonos devices.

If it continues,I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing a skip, and call Sonos Support to discuss it, or post the diagnostic number here for a Community Moderator to pick up.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the phone folks, there are more options available beyond just the diagnostic analysis.

My vote remains on YouTube doesnt support Sonos very well. In the six months since the switch-over started, Google dont appear to have made a single fix to their endpoint.
