Redesign InfoThe 2023 Honda CR-V arrives as a fully redesigned model, ushering in the sixth generation of the compact SUV. Compared to the previous generation, the new CR-V grows in size, has a sharper design, and has more modern tech features. Honda has also introduced a fully redesigned CR-V Hybrid for 2023, though we cover that vehicle separately. Show On the outside, the 2023 CR-V has a bolder exterior design than the current model that’s on sale. The SUV has a squared-off front end, a square grille, and slim headlights that flow into the grille. At the back, the 2023 CR-V continues to have taillights that start at the roofline and follow the curvature of the rear windshield, but they’re more angular than before. The design of the new CR-V showcases its larger size, as the SUV has grown 2.7 inches in length and 0.4 inches in width. Honda has taken a lot of inspiration from the current Civic in the 2023 Honda CR-V. The central touchscreen sits on top of the dashboard The dashboard has a clean look with a trim piece that spans most of the width. The SUV has three main dials for the HVAC system and a slim row of physical buttons. The infotainment system has its own set of buttons that are located on the trim piece surrounding the touchscreen. With a longer wheelbase, the CR-V should have more interior space than the current model that’s on sale.  Honda hasn’t released all of the 2023 CR-V’s features yet. The compact SUV will come with a standard 7-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch driver information screen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. A 9-inch touchscreen, a wireless charging pad, and wireless smartphone compatibility will be optional. Under the hood, the 2023 Honda CR-V will continue to come with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 190 horsepower. Honda claims that it’s updated the turbocharger, and exhaust port cylinder head for improved performance. The engine will be paired with an updated continuously variable automatic transmission. The CR-V is available with a new all-wheel-drive system that can send up to 50% of power to the rear wheels. Every CR-V now comes with Honda Sensing for 2023. Standard safety features will include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. Blind spot monitoring is also standard. Available safety features will include traffic jam assist and a driver attention monitor will be available. Pricing & Release DateThe 2023 Honda CR-V will arrive at dealerships this month, with the CR-V Hybrid following about a month later. The SUV will be available in EX and EX-L trims. Official 2023 CR-V Pricing will start at $32,355 after a destination fee of $1,245. This represents a price increase of $4,310 compared to the cheapest 2022 CR-V pricing. While this is largely due to the fact that the LX trim was discontinued, it does represent a sizeable increase in base price. Opting for all-wheel drive adds $1,500, resulting in an MSRP of $33,855. Stepping up to the 2023 CR-V EX-L trim brings the price to $35,005, with the all-wheel-drive version topping out at $36,505. The 2023 CR-V Hybrid starts $1,340 higher than the gas model with an MSRP of $33,695, though this isn't an apples-to-apples comparison since the hybrid is only available in Sport and Sport Touring trims. The CR-V will compete against the Mazda CX-5, Volkswagen Tiguan, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, and Toyota RAV4. Pictured: 2023 Honda CR-V For 2023, Honda introduced a fully redesigned CR-V Hybrid. The electrified compact SUV will be sold alongside the gas-powered 2023 CR-V, which is covered separately. With an updated gasoline-electric hybrid engine, the all-new CR-V Hybrid will boast an increase in both power and fuel efficiency for the coming year. The 2023 CR-V Hybrid shares the same exterior design as the gas-only model. The redesign sees the electrified SUV get a heavily updated front end with a square grille, angular headlights, and a large central front air intake. The rear end of the CR-V features sharp taillights that start at the base of the rear spoiler and follow the curvature of the rear windshield. Dual exhaust outlets, rugged body cladding, and roof rails are also on display. On the inside, the 2023 CR-V Hybrid adopts a similar interior design to the new Honda Civic. The dashboard has a trim piece that runs nearly the entire width of the dashboard and conceals the air vents. The center console features large buttons and dials, while the infotainment screen sits on top of the dash. Thanks to a larger wheelbase and body, interior space in the CR-V Hybrid has gone up compared to last year. The base CR-V Hybrid Sport will come with a 7-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch driver information screen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto as standard. Available features will include a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone compatibility, navigation, a wireless charging pad, and a Bose audio system. Under the hood, the 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a combined output of 204 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available. In contrast, the current 2022 CR-V Hybrid is only available with all-wheel drive. Honda estimates that 2023 CR-V Hybrid fuel economy will come in at up to 40 mpg combined based on 43 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. This represents a modest improvement compared to the 2022 CR-V Hybrid's fuel economy score of 38 mpg overall. Having said that, 2023 CR-V Hybrid fuel economy does fall to 37 mpg with all-wheel drive. Honda Sensing comes standard on the 2023 CR-V Hybrid. Standard features should include pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist, and a driver attention monitor will be available. The Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid come exclusively with the hybrid powertrain. The front-wheel-drive CR-V Hybrid Sport is tempting.
