This problem tells us that a multiple choice test has 5 questions and each of these multiple choice, questions has 5 choices and we want to know how many different ways that we could answer or there is to answer this multiple choice test with all these questions. So the way to do that is to think of all the choices you have per the 5 questions. You have question 1 question. 2. Question. 3. Question 4 in question 5. So here is all the questions for the test and for each question: you're going to have 5 choices, so you have 5 choices for question 1 and that doesn't decrease or anything for the next question. You still have 5 choices for question 2 and 5. Just choices for question 3 and the same thing is going to be true for question 4 and 5 point so 5 choices for all 5 questions. If you want to know all the possible ways that you could answer these questions on the tests, you would just multiply all your choices together, because that would apply the counting principle so 5 times 5 times 5 times 5 times 5 or 5 to the fifth really Gives us 3125 point, so that means there's 3125 different ways. You could answer these questions from this test.

Q. An examination consists of 10 multiple choice questions, where each question has 4 options, only one of which is correct. In every question, a candidate earns 3 marks for choosing the correct option, and 1 for choosing a wrong option.

Assume a candidate answers all questions by choosing exactly one option for each. Then the number of distinct combinations of answers which can earn the candidate a score from the set {15,16,17,18,19,20} is
