Wireless connectivity is becoming more & more critical at each of the 7 network locations I manage for our non-profit. The internet is used 24/7 to log client data into an online app at 6 of the 7 locations. Currently, we are using just consumer-grade Linksys (& a couple of other brands) Access Points/Routers to provide the wireless connection. Our buildings/facilities have 2 floors and signal has to go through some brick and concrete block walls, so signal quality has been an issue at a couple of places and I've had to put in repeaters as well (also consumer-grade) to extend the reliability of the connection. The staff connect using laptops which they carry all over the facilities and into clients' apartments upstairs (main level) and in the lower level. Ideally, connectivity should be everywhere. As a non-profit we qualify for donations from TechSoup.org and they have the Cisco Aironet AIR-AP1141N-A-K9 access points very reasonably priced & in our budget. From what I've found online, these units are like $500 each retail, so I'm thinking they are good quality and should fit our needs, but I really can't find any reviews from actual users about range and reliability of connection. My plan is to place one of these units ceiling mounted on the upper level (unless lower level would be better) in the center of each of our facilities and replace the existing setup.
