How to Fix an HP Pavilion Laptop With a Bad Battery
By Ruri Ranbe Related
Your HP Pavilion can receive power from both an internal and external component. The internal component, the battery, provides power to the laptop for a few hours before running out of charge. The external component, the AC adapter, charges the battery and provides a constant stream of electricity to the computer. If the battery inside your Pavilion goes bad, the laptop will still work with the AC adapter connected, but will shut down once you disconnect it from its external power source, which could prove problematic if, for example, you're using it for conducting business on the go. Replace the battery to restore full functionality to the laptop. Show
Purchase the Battery1Navigate to the HP Parts Store website (link in Resources). 2Turn over the laptop and locate the product label. Write down the series of characters listed next to "P/N." Type this information into the Product Number field. 3Press "Enter." Select "Battery" from the "Keyword" drop-down menu, then click the ">>" button. 4Check the box next to the listed battery pack. Don't select a product with "Clock Battery" or "RTC" in the name; this is a different kind of battery. 5Click "Proceed to Checkout" and follow the onscreen directions to complete the purchase. Install the Battery1Turn off the HP Pavilion. Disconnect the AC adapter from the laptop. 2Close the lid and turn the laptop over. Slide the tab located next to the battery to unlock the component. 3Remove the bad battery from its compartment. Pull the cover off of the component. Install the cover onto the new battery and insert the replacement part into the empty compartment. The battery should click into place. References
