Does anyone out there know a fix for this error when trying to connect using RDCman v2.7 from a Windows 8.1 PC? "Your credentials did not work: The credentials that were used to connect to (SERVER IP) did not work. Please enter new credentials." I know as a fact the domain username and password are both correct. In fact, they are saved credentials that used to work in the past. This problem came up only a few months ago. (Of course, I have tried and retried typing them again and it still failed.) I've found fixes for RDP files, such as the command shown here, http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/243121-mysterious-remote-desktop-failures.html, but not for RDG files. Can anyone help? THANKS IN ADVANCE! 11 Replies· · ·

Using 2.7 on 8.1 Pro right now. Can you just delete and re-create your RDG's? Kind of painful but it sounds like something went wrong in this process: Passwords are stored securely by encrypting with either CryptProtectData using the (locally) logged on user's authority or an X509 certificate So re-building seems the quickest solution.

I use it all the time on 8.1 as well (v2.7) and mine has huge issues storing the credentials as well. I usually have to end up typing it in. For me, I think the issues is that i have the main file in a Dropbox, so I have everywhere the latest server and such added, that however is causing issues with the credentials storing it seems. Usually when I go through and re-store the credentilas it works fine for a while but eventually it will break again. I'd also recommend looking into http://www.mremoteng.org

With 2.7 you can now save credentials to a "Global" store. Think the idea is that you can now share your main file among several users or PC's without the credentials getting messed up. I too use Dropbox to share the main file among all my PCs and before I had to maintain separate files for all my PCs but now with these global credentials I'm hoping I can share the main file without issues. I would still expect that I have to enter the credentials on each of my PCs (this is good in the interest of security) but going forward they would stick even if the shared file is modified on different PCs. Another option seems to be to add a certificate and use that to encrypt the passwords. As long as the same cert is on all PCs then they could all access the saved credentials.

I will have to decide whether to rebuild the RDG with 60+ servers or to just tolerate the inconvenience. Maybe I'll rebuild as time permits.

I use RDCMan 2.7 in a Server 2012 enviroment, I was having the same issues, the following Solved them: Tools>Options Click Default Group Settings Choose Custom from the Dropdown displayed on the Logon Credentials Tab Add in your credentials as before and click Save You'll be prompted to over write, accept. Click OK then File and Save All. Your credentials should now be cached for all connections saved. Hope that Helps. Niall

I have my file stored in Google Drive and it keeps the information perfect. You might try that instead.

Credentials saved in RDCMan 2.7 are either (Local) or (Global). Local Credentials are encrypted with the logged on user credentials by default, hence it causes the prompt of failed decryption when the file is opened on another computer (or another Domain/Workgroup). It is better to use Global Credentials only by editing the Default Group Settings, then go to Profiles tab, and save all your Credentials. to Remove the previously saved Local Credentials, just open the RDG file in notepad, and delete the entries under<credentialsProfiles>. hope this helps..

Thanks to Niall post I was able to come with that alternative solution. I use RDCMan 2.7 in a Server 2012 enviroment, I was having the same issues, the following Solved them: For the
password/profile mark (Global).
Tools>Options Click Default Group Settings Go to Profile Management Tab Select your profile Edit Add in your credentials and click Save Click OK, OK then File and Save All. Your credentials should now be cached for all connections saved. -- For the password mark (File) simply go to your file name (top root parent) inside the Remote Desktop Connection Manager, Hope that Helps.
