Get ready to play in the sun with Sunplay’s sunblocks

When it comes to shielding our skin from harmful ultraviolet rays, Sunplay is no stranger to the game. With the arsenal of sunscreen and sunblocks under their name, they have been consistently on the ball in the development of new sunscreen technology. And, they have done it once again.

With Sunplay’s newest products, find yourself protected with a high-strength formulation that boasts UV protection (against UVA and UVB rays) and an SPF of 130, plus PA++++, which basically means your skin will be really protected. But, on top of that, they have added antioxidants to the formula, giving your skin an extra boost of protection from pesky free radicals. The products are also lightweight, waterproof, and sweatproof, making them a necessity to carry along when going to hotspots like the beach or the pool. Utilising Solarex-3 Technology, these products also help fight against premature aging from the sun, and helps your skin retain moisture

Our verdict

Sunplay Ultra Shield UV Body Mist (SGD21.90)

Their newest product comes in a charming red colour that’s appealing for a day in the sun. Despite its size (a little smaller than a regular 500ml water bottle, it’s extremely light and easy to carry around. The mist comes out almost entirely clear and disperses evenly across the skin. Mist-based sunscreens are attractive because of how fuss-free it is, and this is no exception.

Instructions state not to spray it directly onto the face but to use it on our palms, before applying it to the face. While doing so, the absolute clarity of the formulation (paired with how non-greasy it seemed) made me unsure if there was even enough product on my hands, so I might have gone a bit overboard but, hey, a little extra protection can’t be too bad, right?

Sunplay Super Block (SGD17.20)

This sunblock comes in a small bottle that’s portable and incredibly lightweight— perfect for a day out in the sun, where the last thing you want (or need) is to rummage around a backpack full of essentials. It has a screw top that is easy to access, even if your hands are wet or otherwise preoccupied, and quick to apply.

I had expected the formula to be thick and chunky, reminiscent of the sunblocks I had used back when I swam as a kid, but I was pleasantly surprised. The formula is almost like water, coming out in a white liquid that is quickly absorbed into my skin. Within seconds, there was minimal feelings of oiliness and greasiness (which I was most afraid of), leaving behind only the slight distinctive scent of sunblock.

Admittedly, I’m not one to burn (or even tan) easily, so I’m unable to ascertain the true effectiveness of these products. But, overall, I felt that they definitely helped my skin with its intense formulation (SPF 130 and PA++++), perfect for the Singaporean weather, and should definitely be products up for consideration if you are seeking a new sunblock to combat the harsh sun.

Sunplay SPF 130 spray review

Sunplay SPF 130 spray review

I remember that when I was younger, my mom told me, "The sun is your worst enemy". And I shrugged it off simply because I just love the sun too much. I used to spend a lot of time at the beach suntanning and I love swimming. My mom would always ask me to apply sunblock lotion which I did not because - I was lazy and I wanted to be more tanned. Thinking back, I was really foolish back then. It didn't occur to me the danger I was exposing myself to - the harmful rays from the sun!

My thoughts:

Sunplay SPF 130 spray review

When I first tried it out, I felt that this sunblock lotion has a smooth texture which gives a powdery-feel finish. However, at the same time it does make my skin shine a little. I must say that it blends into my skin rather well though. As I have combination skin with especially oily T-zone, I doubt I will use this product on my face as I think it would make my face appear more oily-looking.

Apart from that, I think its a good sunblock lotion to apply on one's body especially if you were to be outdoors playing sports or swimming!

I suddenly recall that in a particular episode of Nu Ren Wo Zui Da, they did mention that most Taiwanese girls apply sunblock lotion everyday before they leave home! No wonder they are so fair! Singapore girls, we ought to be religious in maintaining and enhancing beauty as well!

My thoughts:

Sunplay SPF 130 spray review

I was pretty excited about this spray because I have never tried a spray sunblock before. I have tried suntan sprays but they don't count because they ain't sunblock.

When I sprayed this on, it felt rather cooling. I think that this is rather convenient as one can just spray it on quickly and engage in one's desired activity. I also like the fact that it is transparent, as it won't take much effort to blend in!
