The corpse of anna fritz review

Where this slick and sick debut falters is in its leanings towards repetition, with the same arguments played out over and over, and even some of the same set-piece conceits seeing repeat play.

A Spanish film that maybe it would work better as a shortfilm. [Full review in Spanish]

The corpse of anna fritz review

[The] script says some very intelligent things about how the population feels entitled to have access to celebrities (especially in the wake of social media over the last five or so years) and how those interactions can escalate inappropriately.

The corpse of anna fritz review

The film is not an easy watch, nor can it be said to be in any way entertaining; it's short, nasty, brutal and utterly compelling.

Maintains a white-knuckled momentum throughout its admittedly brief runtime.

The corpse of anna fritz review

The Corpse of Anna Fritz doesn't invoke the philosophical horror needed to take it out of B-movie territory.

The corpse of anna fritz review

Though it feels a little dragged out despite it barely being over an hour long and has a void of likable characters, its flipping of horror tropes should make it an interesting watch for film fans.

Is The Corpse of Anna Fritz worth watching?

When you begin your story with your main characters violating a corpse, it's a bit hard to sympathize with them, as the film occasionally asks the audience to do. Despite that I found it pretty effective, playing out in real time with some good suspense. Worth watching if you can stomach the premise.

What happened in the corpse of Anna Fritz?

They decide to smother her with bunched up sheets so no mark is left on her body. While Ivan disposes of the evidence, Pau cleans Anna's body and covers her in a white sheet. As he is about to leave, Pau tells Anna to pretend she is dead and it is revealed that he faked the murder.

Why did Anna Fritz wake up?

The nature of Fritz's revival is never fully explained, but it seems she has been drugged with some sort of muscle inhibitor (maybe a date rape drug) – at first she is barely able to move her face or talk and it is some time before she regains any real ability to move her limbs.
