Organized Golds tend to be dependable, punctual, reliable, loyal, practical, and sensible. Traditions and family are important to them. It’s not enough to know just what your personality preference is, but you also need to know where you get your energy from, also known as Introversion & Extraversion.  Introverted doesn’t mean “shy” and Extraverted doesn’t mean “outgoing.” It’s all about how people get their energy. Introverts get their energy by having quiet time. Extraverts get their energy from keeping in touch with the people, places and things around them.

Introverts often prefer to do their thinking and planning by themselves. Extraverts enjoy talking and being part of a group. There are, however, outgoing Introverts and shy Extraverts. Some Introverts enjoy being with a group of people, but they may need a quiet time after. Some Extraverts can be quiet and a bit shy at first, but they will become more involved once they are comfortable.

History

The history of Temperament and Personality theory goes back over 2500 years, and you can read about it in depth here. While the theory has been around for that long, there weren’t a lot of practical applications for it until the 1950s when Briggs and Myers published the findings of their personality assessment, and David Keirsey popularized temperament theory in the 1950s and 1960s with his book and assessment.

Personality Dimensions® built on all of this work, and the work of others who came later, including Don Lowry and Linda Berens.  It’s important to remember that Personality Dimensions® is not just the work of one person, but is the contributions, research, and ideas of many people that continues to grow.
