this question is asking about which psychologist was responsible for developing this idea. That moral development occurred in stages. So let's start with Freud. Freud came up with the psycho sexual theory of development, and his big thing was that your childhood experiences shaped and defined your adult personality and behaviors. So we know that Freud isn't the psychologist responsible for the moral development theory. We have Eriksen Next and Ericsson belt off of Freud's ideas. But instead of containing the scope of experiences to just childhood, he said that one's experiences throughout their entire lifetime was responsible for shaping their personality and behaviors as an adult. So Erickson was responsible for the psychosocial theory of development. And so we know that Erickson wasn't the psychologist that came up with moral development, either. Next we have Kolberg and Colbert did come up with the idea that moral development occurs in stages, and he said that there were six total stages, two per level, so there were a total of three levels of moral development that someone could go through. So we'll just put a star by Kohlberg, since that seems to be our closest fitting answer. Finally, we have Watson and Watson was the founder of Behaviorism and Behaviorism is the school of thought that tries to explain human and animal behavior by using ideas like classical conditioning. So Watson is an important psychologist but not connected to the idea of moral development. So our final answer is going to be Lawrence Kohlberg, because he came up with the idea of moral development occurring in stages.
