IELTS Speaking Part 2 TopicTrong quá trình ôn luyện IELTS Speaking, để tiết kiệm tối đa thời gian, Huyền tập trung vào 6 topic chính, đó là:
Trong lần thi gần đây nhất, mỗi topic Huyền chuẩn bị khoảng 5 đề chi tiết. Huyền thấy việc tập trung vào những topic chính như thế này rất hữu ích. Huyền chưa bao giờ hy vọng đề thi thật sẽ trúng y chang đề mà mình đã chuẩn bị; tuy nhiên, chỉ cần đề thi rơi vào 1 trong 6 topic trên, Huyền tin rằng mình có thể linh hoạt nói được. Thật ra điều này đã xảy ra với Huyền ngay lần thi đầu tiên (năm 2014). Năm đó, đề Part 2 là (Huyền không nhớ chính xác nhưng đại khái là) Describe an interesting advertisement that you have seen. Lúc đó thật sự Huyền rất hoảng loạn vì khi ôn ở nhà Huyền không hề ôn 1 chút gì về advertising (kể cả 3 part). Tuy nhiên, Huyền nhớ là mình đã chuẩn bị cho đề Describe something you own which is very important to you (Nằm trong main topic thứ 3 bên trên). Thế là Huyền linh hoạt nói về 1 đoạn quảng cáo mobile phone!!! Mind mapLần đó Huyền đạt 7.0 IELTS Speaking!!! Lần đầu tiên do Huyền ôn gấp quá nên cũng không biết cách chuẩn bị bài bản, mind map, chiến thuật sao cho dễ nhớ hơn. Lúc đó chỉ biết học thuộc các ý tưởng, cấu trúc và từ vựng hay từ những quyển bài mẫu. Sau này, Huyền có nhiều thời gian hơn, nhất là trong quá trình đi dạy, Huyền tìm tòi và nhận thấy rằng việc mind map cho 6 topic trên sẽ giúp mình tiết kiệm được rất nhiều thời gian. Để có được mind map chung, Huyền làm như sau:
Ví dụ, khi đọc các bài mẫu về “Describe a person…” Huyền thấy các bài hầu như đều đề cập 1 chút gì đó về vẻ bề ngoài, tính cách, sở thích, hoạt động mà người đó tham gia và cảm nhận của mình về người đó. Từ đó Huyền mind map như sau: Huyền cố gắng hết sức đưa ra những gì chung nhất. Ví dụ, về phần tính cách “personality”, Huyền cố gắng chọn những tính cách nào mà hầu như ai cũng có, như là tính hài hước, siêng năng, …. Và mỗi tính cách, Huyền sẽ cho thêm 1 câu giải thích để triển khai tính cách đó. Không phải đề nào mô tả người mình cũng nói tất cả những điểm trên, tuy nhiên nếu có 1 mind map như thế này, Huyền cảm thấy tự tin hơn rất nhiều và ít nhất trong phòng thi mình biết ý chính để nói và triển khai. Việc tập trung vào 6 topic chính và mind map như trên giúp việc học IELTS Speaking của Huyền hiệu quả hơn và tiết kiệm được nhiều thời gian hơn, đặc biệt nếu mình cần thi IELTS trong thời gian ngắn. Nếu bạn đang gặp khó khăn phần này và chưa từng thử phương pháp này, bạn có thể thử xem nó có hiệu quả và phù hợp với bạn không nhé.
