Sự khác nhau giữa exchange và interchange

1. exchange (V): trao đổi, đổi chác... => trao cái gì đó để nhận/lấy cái khác tương đương; thay thế cái này bằng cái khác cùng loại...

- to exchange information/ideas...: trao đổi thông tin, quan điểm/ý kiến... "Team meetings are an opportunity to exchange ideas."

- to replace unsatisfactory goods...: đổi/thay thế hàng hóa không tốt/vừa ý bằng hàng hóa tốt/vừa ý)..."If it doesn't fit, take it back and the store will exchange it."

2. change (V): thay đổi, biến đổi, chuyển tiếp/chuyển đổi... (hình dạng, trạng thái, màu sắc, tâm tính...)

- to become different or undergo alteration: "He changed as he matured". "Consumers are increasingly changing to low-fat milk."

- to undergo transformation or transition: The music changed to a slow waltz.

- to become deeper in tone: His voice began to change at age 13.

- to go from one phase to another, as the moon or the seasons (chuyển tiếp từ giai đoạn này đến giai đoạn khác do mặt trăng hoặc các mùa): The leaves are already starting to change colour.

- to make an exchange: "If you prefer this seat, I'll change with you".

- to transfer from one conveyance to another: She changed in Chicago on her way to the coast. (change sth to sth else); - to stop doing one thing and start doing something different: Dave said he might be changing jobs.

- to put on other clothing: I had to change my clothes because I got wet.

Interchanging data would be swapping one piece of data for another (changing their positions). It is more specific than exchanging data, which just means that data is going back and forth. You should say "exchange" here.

In general, data is not interchanged, because what you send is a copy. There are situations where interchange might be correct (eg: atomically swapping two memory locations, so what was in A is now in B, and vice versa) but even here "exchange" or "swap" is more common terminology.

Exchange as a noun (telephony, US):

The fourth through sixth digits of a ten-digit phone number (the first three before the introduction of area codes).

"The 555 exchange is reserved for use by the phone company, which is why it's often used in films."

"NPA-NXX-1234 is standard format, where NPA is the area code and NXX is the exchange."
